David Crockett is an American folk hero, border guard, soldier and politician. He is often mentioned in popular culture by his classic "King of the Wild Frontier". He represented Tennessee in the United States House of Representatives and served during the Texas Revolution. Crockett grew up in eastern Tennessee, where he was famous for his hunting and storytelling. He was appointed colonel in the militia of Lawrence County, Tennessee and elected to the Tennessee legislature in 1821. In 1827 he was elected to the United States Congress, where he strongly opposed many of the policies of President Andrew Jackson, in particular Indians. Suppression law. Crockett's opposition to Jackson's policies led to his defeat in the 1831 election. He was re-elected in 1833, then nearly died in 1835, angering him to leave Texas soon after. In early 1836 he joined the Texas Revolution and was probably executed at the Battle of Alamo after being captured by the Mexican army.
